Manchester City join Liverpool in pursuit of Chelsea star Mason Mount
Manchester City are ‘interested’ in signing Chelsea star and Liverpool transfer target Mason Mount, as per German journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The Blues are supposedly aware of Liverpool’s interest in the 24-year-old. Mount’s contract talks have stalled so far at Chelsea and he could leave as a free agent next year.
Before that, he could also leave the Blues this summer in order to make sure Chelsea profit something from his sale rather than losing him on a free transfer. Liverpool have been linked with him heavily.
But now, Manchester City’s name has also been thrown into the equation. And that can be a troublesome situation because the Cityzens can offer him UEFA Champions League football next season.
Problem for LFC
They have also shown in the past that money is rarely a hindrance for them if they really want to sign a player. Liverpool, meanwhile, are struggling in the Premier League and will end the season trophyless.
We need an urgent revamp in midfield and hopefully, the gaping holes that our squad has in the middle of the park are enough to lure Mount. He could, after all, be a regular starter here under Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds will have to be quick if they want to sign the Chelsea star and make sure they ward off interest from other parties. They could nevertheless raise Mount’s demand and with it, his potential valuation.
