Liverpool in ‘secret talks’ for BK Hacken star Momodou Sonko as Reds seek an agreement

The transfer saga surrounding Momodou Sonko continues to create headlines, with Liverpool making decisive strides in their pursuit of the young Swedish star. The Reds, along with RB Leipzig and Bologna, see themselves locked in a heated battle for the coveted teenager’s signature.

Journalist Ola Gustavsson via ECHO has shed light on Liverpool’s proactive approach, revealing that the club has engaged in “secret meetings” in Gothenburg. While these clandestine discussions have been productive, the clubs sit far from an agreement at the moment.

At just 18 years old, Sonko boasts an impressive track record, with 44 appearances, 14 goals, and eight assists to his name at club level. Liverpool’s interest in the prodigious talent dates back to 2017 when he underwent a trial, and now, the club is intensifying their efforts to secure his services.

As the transfer chessboard takes shape, Liverpool’s strategic moves indicate a genuine desire to add Sonko to their ranks. The Swedish sensation’s flair and versatility certainly align with Liverpool’s ethos, making him an enticing prospect for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Sonko to the Reds?

He is a very versatile left-winger capable of leading both flanks. Sonko’s two-footedness gives him the ability to cut inside on either foot to finish. He constantly finds himself in good spaces and has all the raw abilities that could make him a great winger for the Reds, or any team rather, in the future.

The interest in securing his services represents a plan for the future. Mohamed Salah surely does not seem like a player who will slow down, but at one point or the other, the Reds will have to replace him, and that is where our move for Sonko might come in just timely. The Swede will have just the right people around him to learn from before he takes centre stage.
