Squawka reported the dominant stat that shows why Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp trusts Alexis Mac Allister in deep midfield role

Squawka provided the stats justifying the decision by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to play Alexis Mac Allister as a number-six. Klopp used the summer transfer window to revamp the midfield and every new signing contributed to this season’s success.

However, they only signed Wataru Endo as the specialist number-six, leaving Mac Allister as the primary choice in Endo’s absence. Mac Allister also started the season as the deepest midfielder to allow Endo to adapt to the new league.

The Argentina international has been sensational in the deep role, influencing the game on and off the ball. Mac Allister’s pivotal role in the counter-pressing philosophy is notable, complementing his well-documented playmaking ability in possession.

The 25-year-old has shown his combative nature and bravery to get into duels against any kind of opponent. He has been crucial in Liverpool’s ability to win back possession in every area of the pitch.

Stat-based site Squawka reported (h/t X) that Mac Allister has the most tackles made by a Liverpool player in the Premier League game in the last three seasons. The Argentine made nine tackles against Bournemouth and eight against Chelsea, showing his impressive tackling abilities.

He won 25 duels across the two matches, playing a crucial role as Liverpool dominated both games against strong opponents. Liverpool have also deployed Trent Alexander-Arnold in the number-six position, showing interest in shifting him permanently in the future.

Adding Mac Allister to the competition, the Reds have numerous versatile players capable of filling positions for each other. The squad’s fluidity and cohesiveness have been crucial in their successful campaign so far this season.
