Stefan Bajcetic continues his return to action for the Liverpool Under 21 side

Pre-injury Stefan Bajcetic gave Liverpool a breath of fresh air in the midst of a troublesome 22/23 season. Making his return from the same earlier this year in September in the UEL match against LASK away, a different calf injury kept him away from action until very recently.

Stefan made his comeback in the 3-0 win for the U21 side against Manchester United. He came off the bench just before the hour mark and marked what was a long wait to return to action with an assist for Kaide Gordon, Speaking of his return to action, U21s head coach Barry Lewtas spoke highly of him. Here is what he had to say via the club’s official website:

“It was brilliant to see him back. That is part of the U21s role and in Stefan’s case with him coming back from injury, we have got that relationship with the first team, we know how they play. I thought it was really interesting because Stefan came on with half an hour to go and you could see his enthusiasm.”

“He was desperate to play and I thought he was excellent, to be fair. I think he added an extra dimension to our game when he and Isaac Mabaya came on. It’s great to have him back so let’s just take our time, get him ready and see where it all goes.”

Even though he is technically a “senior-team player” and all of that, it would not be an issue if he doesn’t feature for the senior side this season. With only five league games, a sense of continuity in selection won’t hurt Jurgen Klopp’s side. Not only that, Bajcetic is only back and putting him in the middle of the park during an intense title run-in does not make a lot of sense.

YESSSS, Stefan!

Having said that, it is a matter of immense joy that such a talented player is back in action and will feature for the Reds sooner than later.

The journey back from injury can be a challenging one, both physically and mentally, but Bajcetic’s determination and resilience have seen him return to the pitch stronger. As he continues his recovery and integration back into the squad, Liverpool fans can look forward to seeing more of his talent on display in the near future.

In the grand scheme of things, Bajcetic’s return serves as a reminder of the depth and quality within Liverpool’s ranks. As the season reaches its climax, having additional options like him could prove crucial in the Reds’ quest for silverware.

Hopefully, we do not need his services at any point in the rest of the season. Rehabilitation and recovery is a very underrated aspect of football, especially for a youngster. So, while Klopp may opt for caution in reintegrating Bajcetic into the first team, the future looks bright for the talented midfielder under a new boss.
