Diogo Jota has had good moments in a Liverpool shirt, but those moments have been few and far between throughout his time at the club because of injuries.
Liverpool have been needing to make a hard call regarding him for a while now, and it looks like they have made their decision.

Liverpool ready to move Diogo Jota on, claims journo
As reported by football journalist David Lynch, Liverpool are willing to sell Diogo Jota at the end of the season.
“It starts the debate around what do you do with him [Jota] this summer [having acknowledged his injury concerns]?
“I don’t expect Liverpool to do anything kind of rash in the January window, but it does raise the question.
“He’s going to be two years out from the end of his contract when this season ends, can Liverpool rely on him, do they need to cash in on him? I think that’s a big debate that’s coming up.
“I think that’s something bubbling under the surface for the summer. But hopefully this absence only amounts to one game.”
Lynch on Jota, as quoted by Rousing the Kop.
Jota, most recently, headlined Liverpool’s rescue job against Nottingham Forest, as his equaliser ensured the Reds maintain their distance from this season’s surprise Champions League chasers and potential Premier League title contenders. Forest are six points off Liverpool, having played a game more.
Jota has picked up another injury after the game, however, and missed training recently. The Portugal international has struggled with injuries ever since his £40m move from Wolves in the summer of 2020, which has seen him miss a total of 93 games for club and country since his move to Anfield.
TKT Opinion
This makes sense.
By the end of this season, Jota will have completed five years at Liverpool, but one see why his time at the club does not feel like a half-a-decade affair.
Jota has been impressive—almost elite one could say—when he’s been on the pitch for Liverpool, but his injury issues make it hard for Liverpool to consider him a player they can rely upon season after season for most of their games in a campaign.
Given Jota’s unavailability. Darwin Núñez’s unreliability, and the exit links surrounding Luis Diaz and Mo Salah, it’s clear Liverpool need to find answers going ahead. Given they did not spend too much on Jota in the first place and will get to recoup some of the money they did spend, despite the injuries, Jota’s numbers make his move to Liverpool, even at worst, a good one. That’s a testament to Liverpool’s recruitment, as even when transfers don’t work out they turn out to be good, if not elite.
