French journalist provides a promising update on Liverpool Salah’s future

L’Equipe journalist says Salah is ‘likely to stay at Liverpool’

Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool has been a topic of speculation for the media since the campaign of underway as the team’s talisman entered the final year of his contract at the club. With just six months left until the deal expires, there still is no agreement over a renewal of terms with the player also hinting that this is his last season at Anfield.

In spite of Salah’s public remarks about leaving Liverpool in the summer, neither the player nor the club have released any official communication, thus leading many to believe that the Egyptian international’s words to the media are a way of getting the club to give into his lofty financial demands. This has been compounded with links to Saudi Arabia and Paris Saint-Germain.

L’Equipe journalist Tanzi Loic (h/t Rousing the Kop) has claimed that Salah to PSG remains a prospect and the Ligue 1 giants are expected to pursue him with aggressive intent, however, the 32-year-old is ‘likely to stay’ at Liverpool. The insider did not provide any update on whether any contract talks are ongoing between the Reds and Salah, however.

Salah has been Liverpool’s best player this season by a long way and in spite of blanking in the team’s last couple of Premier League outings, he will undoubtedly be the leader of their attack for the second half of the campaign. It is expected of him to perform with as much quality in the Champions League too, which is a competition the team is aiming to win for the first time since 2019.

As speculation regarding Salah’s future continues, the fans can only continue to wait until something more concrete comes their way from the player, his entourage or Liverpool. Nonetheless, it is fair to say that the 32-year-old has a lot more to offer and would be a huge loss for the club, more so if he leaves as a free agent.
