Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra revealed the camp of Luis Diaz has denied having a dialogue with Barcelona over a potential Liverpool exit. Perennial transfer rumours surrounding a potential interest from Barcelona for Diaz have existed since the summer of 2024.

The 28-year-old left-winger has played a pivotal role for the Reds under the new head coach Arne Slot this season. Liverpool are currently at the top of the Premier League and will play Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final.

Furthermore, the Reds will face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League round of 16 after topping the competition’s League Phase. However, Liverpool have struggled recently with form, drawing numerous games and crashing out of the FA Cup against Plymouth Argyle.

Sierra used X account to reveal that the inner circle of Liverpool star Diaz has denied any dialogue with Barcelona. The Colombian journalist further revealed that the future of the 28-year-old will depend on his potential contract renewal.

The Athletic revealed Liverpool’s plan to spend a massive amount on Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon last summer. If Liverpool plans to sign Gordon again, the situation could allow Diaz to finally join his childhood favourite club.

While Liverpool fans and club are happy with the services of the Colombian, there is a practical aspect that bothers them. For all the flamboyancy and quality that Diaz possesses, he suffers from draughts and inconsistencies to contribute and remain efficient.
