Liverpool head coach Arne Slot reveals that the club is ready to recruit new players after making a thorough assessment. Slot used the first season as the chance to assess the Reds squad that he inherited from Jurgen Klopp fully.

The ever-opportunist Liverpool signed goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia in advance for the 2025-26 season during the summer of 2024. Apart from Mamardashvili, the Reds only added Federico Chiesa at a bargain price and as an only addition this season.

The Reds failed to sign defensive midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad but that hurdle acted as a surprise blessing. Ryan Gravenberch stepped up as the new defensive midfielder, matching the profile that Slot desires for that role, with perfection.

Federico Chiesa was the only new signing for the 2024-25 season under the new Liverpool head coach Arne Slot.

Speaking to the media (via Fabrizio Romano’s X account), Slot revealed that Liverpool are ready to recruit the right players after fully assessing the current squad. He said:

“Now we have a very good idea about summer plans. I’m not going to tell you which positions we prefer… but it is clear that we’ve assessed the squad, where we improve, and that’s where we go for in the summer.”

Despite the transition period, Liverpool are currently at the top of the Premier League table, fighting Arsenal for the title. Furthermore, Liverpool have reached the Carabao Cup final along with securing their place in the Champions League round of 16.

Nevertheless, the Reds fanbase and media have questioned the transfer strategy, arguing that the club is too cautious. As Slot’s tactics helped Liverpool prosper, there are some glaring gaps that the Reds refused to fill in January.

If Liverpool fails to secure the Premier League after a convincing lead, the owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) and management will get the blame. Liverpool have previously lost two Premier League titles with a point game against Manchester City in recent years.

Both times, the majority blamed the owners and their overly cautious business tactics, failing to back Klopp with sufficient funds. The fans do not expect the club to spend as enormously as other competitive rivals but asking a reasonable funding is justified.
