Transfer News: Liverpool eye summer deal for Valencia midfielder Yunus Musah
According to 90min (h/t Liverpool Echo), Premier League giants Liverpool are interested in securing a summer deal for Valencia star Yunus Musah in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 20-year-old is already a star for the USMNT side and helped them to the last 16 of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar last year. He continues to impress for Los Che as they struggle to ward off relegation from La Liga.
One can imagine if they are relegated, then signing Musah could become an easier task for his suitors. They are currently 19th in the table after 29 games and are three points away from the safety zone with a game in hand.
A central midfielder, Musah is good going forward and can also do a solid job on the right wing. He is a good driller and can hold onto the ball well. This should see him thrive in Jurgen Klopp’s system should he move to Anfield.
Valencia are keen to extend the 20-year-old’s contract at the Mestalla but an agreement is yet to be reached. Ruben Baraja has a big ask of him to help the club stave off relegation and dropping to the second division could see them part with some crown jewels.
Peter Lim’s stint at Valencia has not won him any fans and the club continues to be in financial turmoil. They could be forced to sell players this summer and should Musah come onto the market, Liverpool could make their move.
The Reds will be set to revamp their midfield in the summer and Musah certainly fits the bill. While it is debatable if he can be a starter yet, the 20-year-old is a long-term addition who can become a dominant player for years to come.
FSG could also get themselves some backing in the United States market by securing the signature of the USMNT star for the Reds. Musah is certainly an excellent prospect and Liverpool will do well to land him for the right price. His demand will only go up in the future.
