Liverpool Keen To Rival Tottenham Hotspur To Sign £34 million Striker From Primeira Liga

Moussa Marega Is Believed To Be In Great Demand

The crazy rumours in football never cease to amaze anyone and the latest link will certainly leave a few heads scratching, to say the least. While Liverpool have been in the hunt for a quality attacker for a couple of seasons and with Daniel Sturridge being linked with a move away from Anfield, every striker who is in form is being touted as the next big signing at the club.

The latest player to receive that dubious honour is Moussa Marega who is on loan at Vitoria Guimaraes from Portuguese giants Porto according to the Bild (h/t Express).

Marega, interestingly, also has a great nickname and is referred to as the “Jamie Vardy” of Mali thanks to his rise from relative unknown parts.

The 25-year-old has scored 12 goals in the league for his loan club and Porto have, as they normally do, slapped a huge transfer fee on the Mali striker. The Portuguese giants want £34 million should Marega choose to change clubs next season, amid interest from the Reds and rivals Tottenham Hotspur

.

The 25-year-old is known for his finishing and his ability in the air but it just does not seem that he is the kind of player that would suit Liverpool’s high pressing style of football. The same report also claims that Tottenham are interested in signing Marega and the rumour feels a little flat, to be honest.

Marega hasn’t really had a lot of quality time playing in the top leagues of Europe and pumping out the amount that Porto want for the Mali striker is a little over the top. There are a number of other strikers that are more accustomed to playing in the top leagues of Europe who would be available for far lesser and that certainly will play on Klopp’s mind when he looks to add more quality to his strike force next season.

Marega might be destined for great things in the future but that might not include a chapter in Liverpool.
