It was nostalgic. It was like a trip down the memory lane and reliving the past. Fowler scoring from the spot, Gerrard crossing to Owen for the opener and 3 late goals from Real Madrid to make the game so close; it was one of those games which kindled the refreshing memories of the Liverpool faithful. It was like 2003 all over again at Anfield on Saturday.
Anfield enjoyed its biggest attendance for nearly 40 years as Liverpool and Real Madrid legends went head to head. More than 53,000 were there to see Robbie Fowler, Luis Figo, and the Reds’ 4-3 win.
It was a special occasion for supporters, and also for the players – some of whom were making their first returns since leaving the club.
And judging by the Twitter and Instagram posts, a good time was had by all.
