27-year-old Liverpool Attacker Just Rejected A Big Money Move To Chinese League

Daniel Sturridge could have been sold by Liverpool had he accepted a big money move on Friday. The Mirror, claims that the 27-year-old was a target for Chinese Super League side Beijing Guoan but the Englishman rejected the move.

The report states that former Bayer Leverkusen manager Roger Schmidt, who is the new boss at the CSL club, wanted to sign Sturridge before the end of the Chinese transfer window on Friday but the Englishman didn’t fancy moving to the Asian country despite being offered a huge deal.

That would be a bit of a blow for us since moving to China would have gotten us a fairly decent chunk of money which we could have used to sign other players.

Sturridge’s future at the club does seem to be bleak and it could be only a matter of time before he is actually sold. The arrival of Mohamed Salah reduces his chances of starting out wide and with Dominic Solanke also signing with us there is added competition for the one striker slot we have in our current system.

A poor run of injuries leaves Sturridge out of Klopp’s plans

The English striker only played 20 Premier League games but started just seven, and his return wasn’t all that great either as he scored just three goals in these outings.

Sturridge needs to play games and quickly, should he not regain his fitness and sharpness in front of goal, he won’t be part of the England side that would make it to the World Cup in 2018.

The 27-year-old is still considered as one of the best finishers in the English game but he will not be starting many matches under Jurgen Klopp as the German wants his strikers to press from the tip of the attack.

There have been a number of other clubs that are looking to sign Sturridge up and it does seem that he will leave us before the end of the transfer window, which is a bit of a shame.

The English striker is extremely talented and hopefully, when he gets the right club for himself and stays fit, he can display just what made him such a potent force when he starred alongside Luis Suarez a few years ago.
