Insigne is being targeted by Liverpool.

Liverpool are ready to make a surprise bid for Lorenzo Insigne, according to Transfermarketweb (h/t The Express). The Italian had been a target in the past for our German manager but Klopp is set to move for the 27-year-old again after failing to land Nabil Fekir.

Insigne plays mostly as a left-winger and had a pretty decent season for Napoli as they just missed out on the Serie A title.

The Italian has spent his entire career in Naples and bagged 14 goals and 11 assists across all competitions for the Serie A side. However, there could be one problem as Napoli prefer to sell another attacker this season.

The report claims that the Serie A side would rather let go of Jose Callejon than Insigne and that is where we might have to do some convincing to allow Napoli to sell their star Italian.

There is another problem with Insigne given that he signed a new five-year deal with the Serie A side last season. Trying to sign him up with four years remaining on his current deal would probably mean an expensive transfer fee. Also, it would be difficult to put him straight into the starting XI given that we have a pretty formidable attack.

Insigne hasn’t ever played for another club apart from Napoli, so that seems like a risk too but he is world-class and if anyone can get the best out of him, it is Klopp.

Seeing Insigne wear the Red of Liverpool would be a great sight and he could make our team even more potent in the attack, hence it makes sense to go for him as long as we don’t pay a crazy amount.
