Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas has stated that there is no club better than the Ligue 1 side for World Cup winner Nabil Fekir, though he did warn there could be a “storm” as the English transfer window closes on 9th August.

Fekir’s move to Anfield broke down during his medical but the Metro

claims that Liverpool are still interested in the 25-year-old and could make a move for the Frenchman before the window ends.

Aulas, however, was bullish about Fekir moving away and was quoted by the Metro as saying:

“In the current context, as the World Champions, with Lyon who has the ambition to do something big next year, it is difficult for Nabil to find a genuinely better club who plays Champions League football.”

The president of the Ligue 1 club also added that they would do everything they can to keep hold of their top players but could sell them if they get a proper bid.

“If they leave, that means we will have received the number we want, we will do everything we can for them not to leave.

“But the week before the 9th of August will certainly be a bit of a storm.”

This seems like typical Aulas as he is looking to get the prices up for the player, as the transfer window comes to a close.

Premier League clubs do have a disadvantage as their window closes on 9th August, well before the other European leagues. If we are to sign Fekir, we might have to pay a crazier amount than before, something that Aulas would certainly like.

Fekir joining us would be the cherry on the cake after an incredible summer of business. Jurgen Klopp and the rest of the management have worked wonders and maybe, they can do it one more time to land the Frenchman.
