Liverpool release statement over Mo Salah’s viral video

The Daily Star reports that Mohamed Salah has been identified by witnesses as using his mobile phone while driving a car.

The video, which went viral across social media, shows Salah seemingly using his mobile while the car was waiting in traffic and then driving off as he apparently put the phone back down.

The report further adds that a witness caught up to Salah, who was still holding the phone in both hands, while some children also edged closer to his window.

The club also shared a statement to BBC (h/t Daily Star):

“The club, after discussion with the player, have made Merseyside Police aware of the footage and the circumstances surrounding it’s capture.”

“We have spoken to the player also and will deal with any follow-up internally.

“Neither the club or player will be making any further comment on this matter.”

The report from the Daily Star also adds that it is illegal to use mobile phones while driving or while waiting at traffic lights in the UK.

The Merseyside Police are also investigating the footage, according to the Daily Star.

Salah scored on the opening day as we defeated West Ham United 4-0. The Egyptian is a key member of the side and hopefully, the Liverpool

man will not face any bans if he is found guilty of the offence.
