Lazar Markovic has clarified why he liked a tweet which featured a number of Serbian flags from David Vujanic. The timing of the like seemed to be all wrong as Red Star Belgrade beat Liverpool in the Champions League.
The Reds were expected to be easy winners against the Serbian side, however, we were shocked with a couple of goals from Milan Pavkov.
The loss makes it difficult for the Reds to make it into the next round as we face Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli in our final group games.
Markovic hasn’t featured for Liverpool this season but assured fans that liking the tweet had nothing to do with the win for Red Star.
Although Markovic hasn’t been our greatest signing, we could give him a pass on this issue. It seems unlikely he would do anything that would antagonise the Liverpool fans and coming from Partizan, it is really going to be difficult for him to accept them winning over the Reds.
The Serbian got a number of fans to support him regarding this issue and here are some of their messages for the winger from Twitter.
