Club deny reports of Liverpool finalising €20m deal for 19-year-old rising star

Abdulkadir Omur

Turkish Football (h/t Daily Star) claims Trabzonspor have denied Liverpool clinching a deal for Abdulkadir Omur. The Daily Star reported earlier that Liverpool had agreed on a €20m deal for the 19-year-old, with the Turk joining the club in the summer.

However, the latest report

refutes those claims but leaves the door open for a deal later on. The report adds that Liverpool have “sounded” out the possibility of the deal and will monitor the progress of the attacker for the remainder of the season.

The 19-year-old has played everywhere in the attack for the Turkish side and has contributed two goals and three assists this season.

The attacker had earlier claimed that Liverpool are “important” but his priority at the moment was doing well with Trabzonspor (h/t Daily Star).

The youngster would be a quality addition to the team, with Jurgen Klopp monitoring his progress at Anfield. The Reds haven’t made a move for a senior player in the winter window, but we can do with more quality in the team. Klopp has seen several problems in the defence due to injuries to key players.

Fortunately for the Reds, the schedule is a little light with no domestic cup games to come. Our next game is against Leicester City on Wednesday, and we need to ensure our four-point lead at the top of the table with a win.
