Liverpool transfer news: Reds have no option to recall on-loan star amidst injury crisis

Liverpool cannot recall on-loan right-back Nathaniel Clyne from Bournemouth, according to the Metro. The former Southampton defender was allowed to join the Cherries until the end of the season, however, Liverpool have been dealt with several injuries in the defence since Clyne switched sides.

The lack of senior right-back options has led Jurgen Klopp into slotting James Milner and Jordan Henderson in recent games. The draws against Leicester and West Ham saw Liverpool drop four points despite taking the lead in both games.

Manchester City have ramped up the pressure on the Reds with their win over Everton, but we have a game in hand. The Reds have young right-backs Rafa Camacho and Ki-Jana Hoever to call upon, however, the pair was only used in the FA Cup defeat at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Clyne’s transfer at the time didn’t look to be a poor decision as the Englishman was barely playing for the first-team. The injury to Trent came up at the wrong time, and the handling of Gomez’s injury hasn’t been great either.

Klopp could have played one of the younger right-backs in the game against Leicester or even the Hammers.

Liverpool have the chance to reclaim the top spot when they face Bournemouth on Saturday. The line-up for the Reds will be interesting to see, especially regarding who starts as the right-back.
