Latest Liverpool news: Rhian Brewster bags brace in U23 friendly win over Northwestern University

Rhian Brewster displayed his class as he scored a brace in a win over Northwest University, his first outing since January 2018.

The youngster played 45 minutes in the win as he returns from a long-term injury, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was present to watch the 18-year-old.

Brewster opened the scoring with a glorious curler from outside the box before finishing off a chance that came off the crossbar.

Neil Critchley’s side won 4-0 thanks to a brace from Tony Gallacher.

Brewster leaves the fans happy

The 18-year-old is one of the brightest talents we have coming through the ranks. Jurgen Klopp also expects a lot from the youngster and that kept the Englishman in a positive frame of mind while recovering from his problem.

Brewster was one of the stars for England in their U17 World Cup win a couple of years ago, and he could turn out to be a fantastic striker for us in the future.

Klopp has provided chances to young players at Liverpool, and it will be interesting to see when Brewster gets his chance. The main aim should be to get back to full-fitness and this appearance was a major step forward.

The 18-year-old’s first goal was certainly praiseworthy, and several Liverpool fans shared their reactions to Brewster’s goals and talent.
