Latest Liverpool news: Tower featuring Everton’s crest vandalised after Champions League triumph

The Liverpool Echo

reports that Prince Rupert’s Tower, a 232-year-old lock-up featuring Everton’s crest, has been vandalised with ‘6’ written on it after Liverpool’s win in the Champions League.

Liverpool defeated Tottenham at the Wanda Metropolitano to lift their sixth Champions League title, and the report claims that the number ‘6’ was painted on the tower overnight.

The report adds that a depiction of the tower has been on Everton’s crest since 1938 and the Toffees donated £15,000 to renovate the structure in 1997.

Liverpool celebrate with a parade

Liverpool had their own celebrations on Sunday as the parade saw a huge sea of Reds supporters come out and cheer the team.

Manager Jurgen Klopp and the players had a wonderful time as the German lifted his first trophy as Liverpool manager.

The Reds have dealt with heartbreak thrice under the German but this was a huge win given we finished second in the Premier League despite amassing 97 points this season.

Celebrations need to be kept in check so that the others are not affected. It is appalling to see a historic structure being vandalised and hopefully, the perpetrators are caught.
