The Liverpool players returned to the city as heroes after lifting their sixth Champions League trophy in Madrid.
The disappointment from last season’s loss was forgotten as Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi scored the goals to defeat Tottenham.
The Reds celebrated wildly at the Wanda Metropolitano and it continued as the fans provided a sea of red for the players.
The man who made it all possible was Jurgen Klopp. The German won his first piece of silverware as Liverpool manager and he provided a reminder of how we need to count our Champions League titles.
While Klopp worked behind the scenes, a lot of credit must also go to Virgil van Dijk. The Dutch defender has transformed the side since joining from Southampton and he had a bit of fun with Joe Gomez as he interviewed the Englishman.
Alisson was the Man of the Match for us in the final as he thwarted Tottenham’s efforts on goal, and the Brazilian was more than happy to start partying after winning the Champions League in his first season at Anfield.
Fabinho was happy to share an incredible image from the parade while James Milner provided a first-hand look at how the supporters were celebrating.
Liverpool last won the Champions League in 2005 after an epic night in Istanbul and thousands of fans lined up on the streets to celebrate with the team.
The fans have gone through a lot in recent years and we have come close to winning titles before under Klopp.
This was special as Liverpool were the best team in the competition. There was no luck involved at all and we are deserving champions of Europe.
The trophy should be the first of many under the German manager and for now, we can celebrate for a while before next season comes calling.
