Former Barcelona and Real Madrid forward Samuel Eto’o has told Mohamed Salah that the Catalans are a better option than the team from the capital.
Salah has been in great form since joining Liverpool two years ago and lifted the Champions League trophy recently.
The Egyptian has scored 71 goals for the Reds in all competitions since his move and has won consecutive Golden Boots for his Premier League performances.
Salah was on target for Liverpool in the Champions League final and is one of the stars for Egypt as they host the African Cup of Nations.
Eto’o was asked which would be a better fit for Salah between Barca and Real, and the Cameroonian replied (h/t Liverpool Echo):
“Barcelona would be a better fit. Real gave me the opportunity to leave Africa but I know Barcelona’s style and I think it would be better for him.”
“If he has the chance to play in the best league of the world, which is the Spanish one, he has to sign for Barcelona.”
The former Barca striker added that Salah has all the traits to become one of the best in the world.
Salah is one of the best in the world already and will only improve under Jurgen Klopp.
Moving to Barca or Real doesn’t make sense at the moment given that we beat the Catalans to reach the Champions League final.
Real are also in turmoil and had to bring back former manager Zinedine Zidane. The Reds seem set to win several trophies under Klopp as we continue our development.
