Gareth Southgate announced the England squad for the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers in September.
The Three Lions face Bulgaria and Kosovo and the manager announced four Liverpool players as a part of the squad.
Jordan Henderson, Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold weren’t the major surprises in the list but one surprise name was Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The midfielder had a difficult 12 months or so after injuring his knee in a Champions League tie against AS Roma. The Englishman more or less missed the entire season last time and couldn’t feature in England’s run in the World Cup too.
The 26-year-old has featured in several games this season and is close to being at his best. The Ox also signed a new long-term deal recently and hopefully, we get to see him reach another level in the coming years.
There were some other surprises in the squad too, with Tyrone Mings, Mason Mount and Harry Winks all getting selected. One major omission was Kyle Walker and it will be interesting to see how the Ox does in the two games.
The Ox should play some minutes in the clash against Burnley on Saturday and hopefully, he can lead us to another win.
Many Liverpool fans were pleased with the call-up for the Ox and wished him the best for the same.
