Nike’s kit deal guarantees Liverpool just £30million a year but comes with surprising add-ons

Nike’s new kit deal guarantees only £30million a year to Liverpool

Nike will offer Liverpool a guaranteed £30million a year as part of the new kit deal in the works, according to The Times (h/t Liverpool Echo).

New Balance’s contract with the Reds runs out at the end of the season, and the current kit suppliers pay us £45m-per-season

(h/t Liverpool Echo).

The current manufacturers have also begun legal proceedings with the Reds after claiming to have met a ‘matching clause’ in their contract to match the latest offer.

However, Nike’s offer does come with some surprising bonuses and benefits.

Nike bringing the big guns for Liverpool

The report adds that Nike will also offer Liverpool 20% of all net sales related to club products should the deal be clinched.

Legendary athletes such as Serena Williams and LeBron James would also promote the Liverpool brand while music sensation Drake would also be roped in, according to the report.

Liverpool players celebrate against Chelsea

This would certainly give us a different kind of boost as the stars will help push the brand more, especially in the American market.

However, the guaranteed income is lower than the likes of Tottenham, Chelsea and even Paris Saint-German. The French giants earn £71m-per-season

with Nike while the English pair make £50m-a-year (h/t Liverpool Echo).

Liverpool believe that the American giants can provide a “far greater total revenue” than the deal with New Balance due to the royalties made from Nike’s greater distribution network (h/t Liverpool Echo).

It will be interesting to see who end up as our kit manufacturers next season, as Nike certainly have put up a different proposal.
