Injury news: Liverpool star expected to be fit for Tottenham clash despite Genk injury

Andy Robertson to be fit for Tottenham clash despite Genk knock

Andy Robertson should be fit for Liverpool’s clash against Tottenham on Sunday despite picking up a knock against Genk.

Liverpool ran out 4-1 winners against the Belgians but were made to work hard, especially in the first half.

Robertson was replaced in the second half, with James Milner taking up his spot and Joe Gomez coming off the bench.

However, The Athletic’s James Pearce reports that Robertson replied that it was “all good” when asked if he would be fit for the Spurs game (h/t Metro).

Hopefully, the medical staff can also work on a couple of other players ahead of the big game. Joel Matip and Trent Alexander-Arnold missed the Genk trip due to niggles and we need them back on Sunday.

No proper cover for Robbo

The injury might not be serious but this is a concern for the coming months. We didn’t replace Alberto Moreno in the summer and don’t have proper cover for Robertson.

Andy Robertson is one of the best left-backs in the world

Yasser Larouci and Adam Lewis have impressed for the youth sides, but playing for the first-team is a different proposition. Robbo is one of the fittest players in the team and we need our best defence to face Spurs.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side won 5-0 against Red Star Belgrade in their last game, and we cannot afford to give them space at the back as we did against Genk.
