Loris Karius to return to Liverpool from Besiktas in the summer

German goalkeeper Loris Karius will return to Liverpool in the summer, two years after the nightmare against Real Madrid, according to The Athletic.

The 26-year-old had a night to forget as a couple of errors proved costly, gifting Real Madrid the trophy with a 3-1 victory.

With the player seemingly unable to cope with the after-effects of the match, Liverpool shipped him out to Besiktas on a two-year loan. He has gone on to make 62 appearances for the Turkish giants.

The report goes on to say that the Turks have no plans to trigger the £7.25million clause in his contract to make the switch permanent.

The goalkeeper will return to Anfield in the summer provided no other team makes a swoop for him. Liverpool remain open to offers for the former German.

The German has experienced a turbulent time at Besiktas but at least got to play a fair number of games. The same cannot be said at Anfield where Alisson Becker is the undisputed Liverpool No.1.

Liverpool signed Adrian to be the Brazilian’s deputy and the Spanish veteran has repaid the faith placed in him by the Reds. The former West Ham keeper signed a two-year deal with an option for a third year. The Spaniard has stepped up magnificently when called upon.

He was the hero in the UEFA Super Cup where he saved the decisive penalty in the shootout. There is little chance of the German forcing his way into Jurgen Klopp’s plans.
