Klopp forced to strip four Liverpool stars of Melwood access after government’s order

Jurgen Klopp forced to completely close down Melwood

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been forced into a complete shut down of the club’s Melwood training facility. This decision has been forced onto the German due to the government’s advice following the coronavirus pandemic.

Following the suspension of the league, the club had taken the decision to halt all activities at Melwood. The players were instructed to train from home for the next two weeks. That has now been extended following a further delay in the season.

The facility, however, remained open to those players still recovering from injury. These players were given individual slots alongside a coach in the gym to continue their rehab.

Alisson and Shaqiri have been permitted to take training equipment home

According to the Express, that will come to a close now following a complete shutdown in activities at the facility. Four players will now have to train from home, namely Alisson Becker, Xherdan Shaqiri, Nathaniel Clyne and Yasser Larouci.

Provisions have been made for Alisson and Shaqiri to take equipment home in order to work on their recovery. Klopp has been in contact with his players via WhatsApp. He has been frequently checking up on them to ensure the fitness plans are being followed.

Fostering team spirit

With self-isolation to continue for the foreseeable future, the club has taken the decision to restart group training from next week. This will be done by making use of video links. The coaching staff will lead the whole squad in exercises and workout routines at their home gyms.
