Liverpool flop Loris Karius could join Wolves next season

Liverpool flop Loris Karius could be set to join Premier League rivals Wolves next season, with an agreement already in place as per reports (h/t Birmingham Mail).

Karius signed for our club from German outfit FSV Mainz back in 2016 but endured a difficult spell at Anfield. The German shot-stopper is widely remembered for his blunders in the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid, which cost us the trophy.

Following that season, Karius joined Turkish club Besiktas on loan in the summer of 2018. Things, though, have failed to improve for him. The 26-year-old has made 67 appearances for the Turkish giants, conceding 95 goals and keeping just 14 clean sheets

While Besiktas have the option of signing Karius permanently, it seems a highly unlikely prospect. This is because Karius has no intention of staying at Besiktas. In fact, the German has already gone to FIFA seeking a release from his loan due to unpaid wages (h/t Birmingham Mail).

“Karius has gone to FIFA over his unpaid wages and termination of his contract. He wants to leave and that’s his decision.”

Now, reports in Turkey (h/t Birmingham Mail), are claiming the German custodian will join Wolves on loan next season. The Midlands outfit are seeking a backup for Rui Patricio and have reached an agreement with Liverpool already (h/t Birmingham Mail).

It remains to be seen how Karius’ current situation with Besiktas plays out in the coming weeks. As far as his future is concerned, the German’s contract with our club runs till 2022.

We have Alisson and Adrian as the first-team goalkeepers. And with Caiomhin Kelleher waiting in the wings, a return to Anfield in playing capacity is highly unlikely.
