“Nothing more to say”: World-class Liverpool target issues statement amid transfer speculation

Thiago issues statement amid transfer interest from Liverpool

The number of players that Liverpool have been linked with this summer is quite less compared to the usual standards. While the more optimistic of fans will probably argue that it’s because we already have a fairly complete squad, the truth most likely revolves around our seemingly poor financial condition.

The teams around Liverpool have all been doing business, and one can’t help but wonder whether Klopp’s side could fall off the pace next season.

Despite the heavy shortage of actual transfer links, the ones that have come have been promising. Of all the exciting ones, the one that Liverpool fans have been eagerly waiting on is that of Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara. The Daily Star have claimed that the Reds are keen on acquiring the Spanish ace.

Thiago has less than twelve months left on his contract

The last couple of weeks were all filled with positive updates on this regard, with even Bayern Munich representatives suggesting that a move away could be on the cards. The CEO of the Bavarian club – Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was the latest to issue a statement. (h/t Daily Star

“Regarding Thiago, it’s known that he told us he wanted to do something new. If a club approaches us that is willing to pay a fair transfer fee, we will work on it.”

However, Thiago has issued a statement that casts a summer transfer in doubt. The midfielder, who is currently on national duty with Spain, claimed that he is happy at Bayern and hasn’t spoken about leaving the club. (h/t Daily Star)

“Bayern is my home and I am happy to be there. I have not told anyone that I’m leaving. Every year you put me at a different club. For me, my future is tomorrow’s game and there is nothing more to say. I neither care nor am I interested.”

Going into the new season without strengthening the squad even a little would be like asking for trouble. The weeks after the resumption of football last season were not comfortable for us by any stretch of the imagination.

With the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City now making big moves as well, not signing Thiago could leave us with the distinct possibility of being left behind.
