Liverpool prepared to wait until January to swoop in for 22-year-old African star

Liverpool willing to wait till January to sign Watford’s Ismaila Sarr

Reigning Premier League champions Liverpool have been quite inactive in the transfer market so far, and hoping to achieve the same results as last season with an unchanged squad would be nothing short of ridiculous.

A majority of the teams around them have been strengthening, with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City seemingly taking things to the next level. One of the few players that Liverpool have actually been linked with, is Watford winger Ismaila Sarr

, as has been conveyed by Football Insider (h/t Wales Online).
Ismaila Sarr impressed in his debut PL season

The speedster was one of the few shining lights for Watford last season, in what proved to be an extremely strenuous campaign for the Hornets. Having brought him in for a price in the region of £30m

, it’s unlikely that Watford will sell at a loss.

With such massive things expected from the Senegalese winger, it doesn’t come as too much of a surprise that Liverpool are after this exciting young talent. Despite the fact that Sarr only arrived at Watford from Rennes last summer, there have been no shortage of rumours

linking him with moves away from Vicarage Road.

However, the report suggests that the Anfield club are keen to sign the dangerous winger. But they’re willing to wait until January to get the deal over the line, having been put off by the Hornets’ valuation of the player.

The Reds didn’t finish last season in the most fluent of manners, as the performances after the resumption of football weren’t anywhere near the standard that they had set for themselves.

Despite finishing the campaign with just three defeats, the drop-off from the pace they were going at was unmissable. Not only did the goals dry up to a certain extent, but there were various defensive concerns too.

Maintaining consistency in a league as competitive as the English top-flight is easier said than done. And trying to do so without strengthening the squad at all is like asking for trouble.
