According to a report by Stretty News (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are on the verge of losing Ethan Ennis to Manchester United, who are leading Chelsea in the race for the Reds youngster.
Ennis has featured for Marc-Bridge Wilkinson’s side last season in the U18 Premier League. He was also a part of the squad that reached the FA Youth Cup final, only to lose to Aston Villa.
It is not mentioned in the report if United are pricing him away from Merseyside or if the Reds themselves want to sell the youngster. Nevertheless, this is one decision they can live to rue.
Liverpool’s youth academy, otherwise, is one of the best in England considering the talents they have supplied to the first team over the years. Steven Gerrard is one of the shining examples of what the academy has been able to produce in the 21st century.
Considering the players in Jurgen Klopp’s team, Neco Williams, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Curtis Jones are all household names in English football.
The Reds fans would hope Ennis does not reach those heights, that too for a rival club. United’s 18 side finished behind Manchester City in the Under-18 PL last season, losing the league title by just one point.
Liverpool were third, 8 points behind the Red Devils. For the past few seasons, Liverpool’s young guns are finishing either second or third, but have been unable to win the North title.
Hopefully, Ennis’ potential loss would not be a big blow and the youngsters can make another push for the North title next season.
