Rival manager provides Liverpool PL title assurance ahead of Man City showdown

Steven Gerrard tells Liverpool fans that Aston Villa will give everything to win against Manchester City

According to the Liverpool Echo, former Liverpool player Steven Gerrard has suggested that his players would give their all to secure a victory against Manchester City in the coming game.

Trailing by one point from Manchester City, Liverpool now requires the help of Aston Villa in order to secure the Premier League title. If Pep Guardiola’s men draw or lose against the Lions and Reds win their final game then the Merseyside team would be able to win their second Premier League title.

Everyone knows the legacy Steven Gerrard left at Liverpool. Hence, the fans didn’t spend any time suggesting the local boy do the unprecedented favour to his old team. However, some people took it too far and questioned the integrity of the Lions’ manager.

Steven Gerrard revealed that his team will try their best to defeat Manchester City in the following game, not because he is a Liverpool legend, but because it’s his job as the manager of the club. He added that helping the Reds would give him immense pleasure, but his priority will be to secure the best result for Villa.

“It is disappointing when people mention integrity and aim it towards me or Aston Villa or any of my players. We’ll go out at the weekend and give it everything we’ve got to try and get points for Aston Villa and our supporters. If that inevitably helps Liverpool, fantastic. But my priority is to try and get points for Aston Villa.”

Could Gerrard get the job done?

The Merseyside legend has given everything for Liverpool during his playing career. Gerrard’s loyalty to his boyhood club has made his stature immortal. He played a massive role in helping his team win the Champions League and FA Cup, but couldn’t secure the Premier League despite coming pretty close on several occasions.

When he was asked by Gary Neville in Sky Bet’s The Overlap to reveal the one regret in his life. Gerrard suggested that not winning the Premier League as a player seems to be the one. It reflects the undying love of the local boy for the club of his life.

Even though Gerrard might be keeping his composure before the media in order to maintain professionalism, he understands the emotions very well and knows what he has to do to help both teams get the best results out of the fixture.

It remains to be seen whether Gerrard and his team secure the victory against Manchester City. Nevertheless, Liverpool have to win against Wolves as well in order to have any chance of securing the title.
