Transfer News: Journo offers the latest on Bayern Munich target Sadio Mane and his Liverpool future

According to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg on Twitter, Sadio Mane is unlikely to give a verdict on his Liverpool future today and hasn’t spoken to the journalists after the full-time whistle.

The Senegalese superstar was on the losing side of the UEFA Champions League final between the Reds and Real Madrid yesterday night. Before the game, he claimed that he will give a verdict on his future at Anfield after the final in Paris.

His current contract expires in the summer of 2023 and the 30-year-old winger has recently been linked with a move to Bayern Munich. The former Southampton star had a decent outing yesterday.

He wasn’t exceptional but did create things for Liverpool in the final third of the pitch multiple times. His shot that was saved by Thibaut Courtois onto the post was arguably our best chance of the game.

Mane out?

In the end, the difference-maker turned out to be Vinicius Jr, whose goal in the second half courtesy of some careless marking from Trent Alexander-Arnold handed Madrid their 14th UCL title.

And since then, there has been a silence surrounding Mane’s future. It remains to be seen when he chooses to address these talks.

He has arguably achieved everything he could at LFC, winning virtually every major trophy under Jurgen Klopp. A new challenge in the Bundesliga, that too for a giant like Bayern Munich, can be enticing for even the most loyal of footballers.

We did sign Luis Diaz in January but would certainly have to replace Mane one way or the other if he does end up leaving. He has been a vital part of Klopp’s dynasty and was perhaps the signing that really started the German manager’s revolution on Merseyside.
