Transfer News: Liverpool set for profit if Ajax and PSV target Ki-Jana Hoever leaves Wolves

According to Voetbal International (h/t Liverpool Echo), former Liverpool defender and current Wolves starlet, Ki-Jana Hoever

, is linked with a move back to his home country as PSV Eindhoven are showing interest in his services.

Last week, the Athletic (Subscription Required) claimed that Ajax continue to be linked with a move for their former youth academy graduate. The young defender could rejoin the Amsterdam-based outfit on either a loan or permanent move.

So, how do Liverpool come into the picture? The Reds smartly included a 15% sell-on clause in his contract when he was sold to Wolves, with Diogo Jota moving to Anfield in the same window.

Looking back on the deal, it hasn’t really affected us to the extent some of our fans may have thought it would. The Reds sold him for £13million two years ago, which was a neat sum for a player that wasn’t going to displace Trent Alexander-Arnold down the right-hand side.

Welcome windfall?

When Neco Williams’ lack of defensive solidity was on display after Hoever’s departure, perhaps one may have wondered if the Dutchman could have been kept as TAA’s backup.

However, an up-and-coming talent like the current Wolves defender may not have been okay with that role. Moreover, TAA’s fitness (touchwood!) and Joe Gomez’s versatility has meant that the Reds seem secure down that flank- at least for now.

Neco was loaned out to Fulham this year and is linked

with a move away from Anfield. The Reds, meanwhile, are out to seal a transfer for teenage Scottish right-back Calvin Ramsay.

And that could mean a welcome profit this summer for the club if the 20-year-old defender, who was called out by Bruno Lage last season for his fitness, leaves Molineux.
