Transfer News: Deco unwilling to let Raphinha move to Liverpool amidst Barcelona interest
Leeds United ace Raphinha has been linked with a move away from the club, but according to Sport via Mirror, his agent has blocked the Brazilian from joining the likes of Liverpool. He appears to favour the winger moving to Barcelona.
Liverpool could have possibly signed the 25-year-old, who has been a long-held target for Jurgen Klopp, if it weren’t for his agent, Deco. Leeds United are demanding £50 million for Raphinha and appear to have accepted that he will leave Elland Road.
Barcelona are the frontrunners as Deco promised the Blaugrana a chance to sign his client as the Spanish club sort out their financial mess. This more or less closes the door on other clubs in the fray.
Going for Raphinha
Raphinha was possibly the standout player at Leeds United last season, helping them retain their status as a Premier League side. This after an intense campaign that had them flirting with relegation.
The Leeds number 10 featured in 35 league games, scoring 11 goals in a team that was starved of inspiration at both ends of the pitch. He led the club’s scoring charts and was easily their best attacker all campaign. The Brazilian was touted for a move to Anfield in January before Liverpool signed Luis Diaz from Porto.
Former Barcelona player-turned-agent Deco is keen on Raphinha moving to Catalonia. The player has had many offers from top clubs, but it seems the winger prefers a move to the Camp Nou as well.
Reds fans will hope the West Yorkshire club can keep their man for another season as the 25-year-old will be a good replacement for Mohamed Salah next summer if the Egyptian decides to leave on a free.
It remains to be seen whether Barcelona can churn up the necessary funds to sign the exciting Brazilian winger. Arsenal and Chelsea are also interested in the player as well. If everything pans out, it is difficult to see him stay at Leeds for another season.
