“They won’t get Bellingham”- Liverpool told why they could be unable to sign Borussia Dortmund star in 2023

Jamie O’Hara says Liverpool will neither sign Jude Bellingham nor make the Premier League top 4 this season

Liverpool have not had that ideal start to their league campaign gaffer Jurgen Klopp would have envisioned. Losing to newly-promoted Nottingham Forest adds fuel to the fire as the Reds were clear favourites to emerge victorious in the fixture.

Presently, the Reds are in 8th position on the table with only 16 points from 11 games. Three losses include Manchester United, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest. All in all, the Reds have four wins and as many draws.

Even with the league campaign as far as possible from done and dusted, it seems a far-fetched task for Liverpool to finish in the top four which could certainly have a domino effect on the Reds’ pursuit of their transfer targets.

Former Tottenham Hotspur player and pundit Jamie O’Hara told talkSPORT that Liverpool will fail to land Jude Bellingham, who is a long-term transfer target for Jurgen Klopp at the Merseyside club (h/t the Athletic), if they don’t make top four.

“Do you want to compete? You’re seeing Newcastle, Arsenal, Chelsea… do you want to compete? They won’t even get Jude Bellingham now, they won’t get Bellingham!”

Failure to land transfer targets?

Speaking alongside Ally McCoist, the pair came to an agreement on the fact that if the Reds fail to finish in the top 4 of the Premier League, Jude Bellingham would not sign a contract with the club.

Moreover, with the multiple injuries the Reds have faced over the course of the season, it is even tougher to get to the top end of the Premier League table. It is not only the injuries, to be fair. Even the performances on the field have been extremely inconsistent.

Unfair to point out names, but Fabinho has been extremely poor this season in midfield and without the Brazilian in top form, it becomes extremely tough for the rest of the players to keep things tight considering he is the shield ahead of our backline.

Jude Bellingham might not sign for Liverpool if they play the way they have been.

No doubt, Liverpool need top-quality midfielders next summer, but without completing this season strongly and in a good position on the table, the Reds would not be attracting the best players.

However, there is a long time to for the end of the season, and for someone as optimistic as the author, things will certainly take shape for Liverpool, and in a positive way. As far as Bellingham is concerned, only time will tell whether he wears Merseyside Red next season.

It could prove to be a risky strategy to wait for him. Perhaps the Reds took it for granted that they will keep making the top four each season no matter what names they put on the team-sheet week in, week out.
