Jurgen Klopp gives an update on Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson after injury against Ajax

Speaking in the post-match press conference after Liverpool’s win against Ajax as quoted by Liverpool Echo, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has calmed the fears over an injury for Jordan Henderson and feels that the English captain will be fine.

Henderson got injured during the game against Ajax. The Reds captain suffered a clash of knees with Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez and was forced to limp off the pitch with less than 20 minutes to go in the game.

Liverpool managed to secure qualification to the next round of the Champions League thanks to their 3-0 win against the Dutch giants. It was a rather clinical performance from Klopp’s men, especially in the second half.

Goals from Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott were enough for the Reds to get past the line against the Eredivisie giants. However, the first-half performance was something that Liverpool will have to introspect about.

Another thing for Klopp to worry about would have been the injury to club captain Jordan Henderson. It looked very bad on the pitch and the last thing Liverpool want is yet another addition to the long injury list.

However, Klopp seems to have eased the fears surrounding Henderson’s injury and it remains to be seen what happens.

“I think he got knee on knee, so (it was) painful. A bruise, probably, really painful. But as far as I know now nothing else.”

Henderson might not have the best of times in a Liverpool shirt this season. However, the last thing that the club want is an injury to their captain and this will leave them extremely under-staffed in midfield.

As long as it is just a bruise, the Liverpool captain will be back very soon. However, we will have to wait on a more clear assessment of Henderson’s injury. It remains to be seen how this pans out.
