Steven Gerrard is ‘really excited’ to watch Jude Bellingham at the World Cup amid Liverpool interest

Former Liverpool midfielder and legend Steven Gerrard says that he is ‘really excited’ to watch Borussia Dortmund Jude Bellingham at the World Cup this year. Liverpool are interested in the 19-year-old.

Speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Metro), the former Reds midfielder believes that the Dortmund man can become an England superstar in the years to come.

“I think for the viewers watching this World Cup, there’s a massive opportunity to enjoy a massive pool of players from different countries. I’ll be focusing my attention on England, I’m really excited to watch Jude Bellingham, I’m a massive fan of him. I think the next 10 or 15 years, he’s going to become an England superstar.”

The Reds along with rivals Chelsea are interested in the 19-year-old England international. Dortmund have admitted that they would be willing to sell the player next summer and he will likely cost in excess of £100 million.

Bellingham is one of the hottest young prospects in Europe. The 19-year-old is simply too good of a player for his age and that he has been showing this season.

He has played in 22 games so far for the German side in all competitions, scoring nine goals and registering another three assists in the process. A talented box-to-box midfielder, Jurgen Klopp could do with someone like him in his team.

Liverpool have the problem of an ageing midfield this season. Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson and James Milner are all above 30, while the likes of Naby Keita and Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain have struggled with fitness.

Young players are needed to lead the line now and Bellingham is one of the best prospects there is. With Fabio Carvalho and Harvey Elliott getting better every day, adding the 19-year-old could secure the midfield department for years to come.
