Transfer News: Liverpool ‘favourites’ to sign long-term midfield target

Liverpool favourites to sign long-term transfer target Jude Bellingham

As per Christian Falk of BILD (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are now the firm favourites over Real Madrid to secure the services of Jude Bellingham next summer. The 19-year-old has been on the radar of the Reds ever since his move to Borussia Dortmund in 2020, and it seems like they could sign the player now.

The player has now proved his hype at the highest level, by delivering world-class performances for England at the World Cup wherein he is arguably among the best players. Even in the build-up to the tournament, Jude accumulated nine goals and three assists for Dortmund this season in 22

appearances across all competitions.

Apparently, Bellingham’s family also prefer that he move to the Northwest of England, not Spain. Talks with the Reds are far more advanced than with Real Madrid, and Jude’s bond with Jordan Henderson could also mould this deal.

With conversations of a partial takeover from Saudi-Qatar investors also brewing, Liverpool could potentially have the funds to match the £131m asking price set by Borussia Dortmund for their star player.

Jude to L4

Liverpool’s turbulent time in midfield needs no introduction. Frequent injuries to key players, available players not on the mark, and other inconsistencies meant that the Reds would have had to enforce their middle of the park sooner than later.

There are not plenty of midfielders better than Jude available in the market and the Reds successfully getting him on board would prove to be a huge statement, both on and off the field. In 112

appearances for Dortmund across all competitions, he has 19 goals and 21 assists.

Hopefully, Liverpool get him on board and he has better results to boot at Anfield. As of now, he will still have a huge role to play for Gareth Southgate’s side in their World Cup run. England play France in the Quarter-Finals.

Liverpool ready to go ‘all-in’ for long-term transfer target Jude Bellingham.

The Reds would want Hendo and Trent Alexander-Arnold to further progress into the tournament, as they would wish for Ibrahima Konate as well, who would be turning up for France.
