Pep Lijnders sidesteps question about Liverpool transfer plans

Speaking in an interview as quoted by Liverpool Echo, Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders has sidestepped the question about the club’s transfer plans in the January transfer window.

Lijnders smartly passed on the question to his boss, asking the media to put this question forward to Jurgen Klopp the next time the German manager made an appearance in front of them.

With the January transfer window not too far away, there is a curiosity as to what Liverpool are going to do in the winter window. There are reinforcments that need to be made and it remains to be seen if they have any plans.

The Reds have shown in the past that they are not averse to spending big money in January, a period where most clubs usually remain quiet and rather choose to wait for the summer to make big moves.

Luis Diaz and Virgin van Dijk were both January signings and we don’t need to elucidate how good the duo have been for the Reds. It’s something that has worked well for Liverpool in the past.

Speaking about the club’s transfer stance, here is what Lijnders had to say about a move in January.

“This is the press room not the boardroom. When Jurgen is next here, ask him! For the right player, the right moment, the right feeling, we are always prepared”

Liverpool have been linked with a number of names ahead of the transfer window. Most of them are midfield options considering the fact that it is one area where they need quite a bit of change.

The Reds have not had the best of seasons until now but after the World Cup break, Liverpool will be looking to improve and have a better second half of the season. Jurgen Klopp will know that this is crucial.
