“Wow, that is ridiculous”- West Ham striker slams claims that Jurgen Klopp should leave Liverpool

Michail Antonio slams the claims that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp should leave

Speaking on The Footballer’s Football Podcast (h/t Liverpool Echo), West Ham United striker Michail Antonio has slammed the claims that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp should leave his job.

The German has come under some stern criticism in the past few weeks, especially after the Reds got humbled 3-0 at Brighton last Saturday. Although the majority of the Liverpool fans would want him to stay, some wanted him gone.

Before the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Klopp was vehement in the press conference, categorically saying

that he is here to stay unless someone in the club tells him not to. He also stressed the fact that there will be changes made soon.

Talking about the Reds boss and whether he should leave, here’s Antonio (h/t Liverpool Echo):

“Wow, that is ridiculous! You can’t. That’s ludicrous. Getting rid of him would just be stupidity. He won the Premier League with Liverpool. At the end of the day, so many managers have been there and they haven’t done it.”

If people had doubts about Klopp and whether he can still get the best out of the players, the Wolves game became a prime example that he has still got it. A second-string Liverpool side did their manager proud with an impressive 1-0 win away at the Molineux in the FA Cup on Tuesday.

The German has also addressed

the claims that he is too loyal to players. He has admitted that he is loyal, but not too much. Will we see a ruthless side of him for the rest of this season? The signs are there. And truth be told, he hasn’t got many options given how badly some of the trusted players have done.

Irrespective of what happens this season, we would be mad to suggest that any manager other than Klopp is capable of building a team from scratch, starting this summer.

More Liverpool News:

We would rather have every player sold than him leaving the job. He was the reason that the current Liverpool team has been assembled and won so many titles since 2019. And there are no doubts that he can do the same again and prepare a team for the next generation – he just needs owners that back him properly.
