According to Liverpool Echo, Diogo Jota and Arthur Melo are back in full team training for Liverpool ahead of the crunch Merseyside derby against Everton on Monday.
Virgil van Dijk and Roberto Firmino were also seen training with the squad, but it is believed that the Everton game might come too soon for them. Fabinho, who missed the Wolves game due to illness, was back with the squad.
In slightly negative news though, Thiago Alcantara was not seen training as he was working
on his individual programme. Whether that is just to protect him from an injury or has he picked up something, will be confirmed by Jurgen Klopp during the press conference. It is good to see Jota back in the fold for the first time since October. He picked up a serious calf injury in the win over Manchester City and missed nearly four months of action, including the World Cup.
The Portugal international’s propensity in the box and his movements were missed by us. He is the type of striker who can reignite our season all by himself. Let’s hope he stays from now till the end of this season to make that happen.
The return of Arthur adds more options to the malaise midfield. Although the Brazilian is yet to convince anyone about what he can bring to the team, there is optimism around him doing well in the next three months.
We are in rotten form at the moment. The return of key players from injuries not only boosts the quality of the squad but gives others a lift, including the manager. Klopp knows there aren’t many excuses left once there are no major injuries in the squad. It is time to start delivering wins, starting from Monday.
