Romano says Liverpool target has added a new agent to help with Chelsea contract talks

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the change in Liverpool-linked Mason Mount’s agency ahead of a rumoured exit from Chelsea

Fabrizio Romano via Twitter has clarified the situation surrounding Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool.

There seems to be an impasse in the contract negotiations between Mount and Chelsea and there are growing concerns that the England international could leave the club in the summer, with his contract running till 2024.

The concern was highlighted further when talks of the player changing his agent started floating around.

Fabrizio has now clarified the situation and confirms that Mount has partnered with Neil Fewings (ROOF Group), although his current agent and Tony Mount, who is his father, remains with the player as his official agent.

Liverpool have been linked with Mount for some time now and the summer transfer window presents us with the perfect opportunity to test Chelsea’s resolve in keeping hold of one of their prized assets.

It is claimed that Mount is looking to be on the pay scale of some of the top earners of the club and the reason behind the impasse in contract negotiations.

Jurgen Klopp, on the other hand, is looking to revamp his midfield options and Mount does provide a good buy considering the player is at the optimum age and has Premier League experience.

An all-round workhorse, there are good chances that he suits well the system at play under Klopp and has shown previously his ability to play at a high level.

In terms of fee, due to the impasse in contract talks, Chelsea could end up letting the player go for a reasonable fee increasing the likelihood of the possibility of concluding the deal.

It is definitely one of the sagas to watch out for in the summer transfer window. We would, of course, want a world-class midfielder alongside him, but Mount won’t be a shabby addition at all given his age and experience in England. He can be a beast under Klopp.
