Jamie Carragher vouches for Xabi Alonso to take over from Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool

Jamie Carragher has thrown his weight behind Xabi Alonso as the potential successor to Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. Alonso, who is currently managing Bayer Leverkusen, has emerged as the front-runner for the managerial role, pending an agreement between Liverpool and Leverkusen.

“For me, if we’re talking about who should come in, I think it should be Xabi Alonso. He is very inexperienced in management, having managed just sixty or seventy games, but what you would have straight away is the club on side.”

“He’s the type of guy that if he came in, he’d have the crowd straight away.”

Carragher emphasized the positive reception Alonso would receive at Liverpool, not only due to his status as a former player but also because of the respect he garnered during his playing days.
