Brentford manager Thomas Frank admitted failure to counter the direct approach from “best in the Premier League” in Liverpool

Thomas Frank acknowledged that the direct approach from Liverpool was too good for Brentford to counter on Saturday. On Saturday, Liverpool beat Brentford 1-4 in the Premier League game at the Brentford Community Stadium.

The Reds are currently at the top of the Premier League, two points ahead of second-place Arsenal. Manchester City are four points behind with a game in hand, making it a close three-way title race.

The Bees started the game strongly, earning the first chance of the game in just the fourth minute after the kick-off. Liverpool scored the first goal of the game in the 35th minute of the game through Darwin Nunez.

Diogo Jota unleashed the Uruguayan forward one-on-one, and he chipped Brentford’s goalkeeper with a quality finish. Alexis Mac Allister scored the second goal in the 55th minute from an assist by the returning Mohamed Salah.

Salah joined the scoresheet with the third Liverpool goal after an assist from Cody Gakpo. Brentford scored a goal in the 75th minute of the game from Ivan Toney’s close finish. Liverpool wrapped up the win in the 86th minute with a goal from Gakpo to secure the three points.

Speaking to reporters (h/t Liverpool Echo) after the game, Frank admitted that his team couldn’t stop Liverpool’s direct approach. He said:

“If you want to beat the best in the Premier League then you have to be perfect, and unfortunately we were not. Liverpool normally play more direct (than the other top teams) and they are very good at it, they love to play in behind and we knew that. It was no surprise they did that.”

Klopp has used a diverse set of skills within his senior team alongside the fluidity and cohesiveness of the players. Liverpool have deployed various tactics this season depending on the availability of the players and the opponent they are facing.
