Liverpool star midfielder Dominik passes a big statement on Liverpool’s position in the Premier League title race and says “their fate is in their own hands” now.

Dominik Szoboszlai has stated that the fate of the Premier League title is in Liverpool’s hands and that the Reds do not need to improve their goal differential to strengthen their chances after the weekend’s results.

Liverpool reclaimed the Premier League lead on Sunday, coming from behind to defeat Brighton 2-1 at Anfield. The other two rivals, Arsenal and Manchester City, ended their clash with a scoreline of 0-0. This puts the Reds two points clear at the top with nine games to go.

While there is still much football to come over the next two months, Szoboszlai understands that the Reds are in control of their own destiny and insists that the team needs to play it smart.

Szoboszlai told Hungarian outlet Sportal:

“There are nine games left, we are in first place, which means our fate is in our own hands, If we don’t make a single mistake from now on, we’ll win the league. We are progressing from match to match, for now, it is not worth looking any further than Thursday’s league game against Sheffield.”

“Every game in the remaining nine rounds must be run as if it were the last – and after Arsenal’s point loss on Sunday, we no longer need to aim for sixteen goals in one of the nine games.”

The midfielder also suggested that Sunday’s result at the Etihad Stadium was excellent for Liverpool since the Reds no longer need to rely on goal difference to catch up with their rivals.

While Liverpool leads by two points, they have the second-greatest goal difference among the top three, a metric that could come into play if any of the teams finish the season with equal points.

Klopp’s men currently have +40, while Arsenal boast +46 and City lag with +35. But as long as Liverpool stays on the point lead till the end, they do not need to worry about the goal difference.
