Richard Keys’ surprising Jurgen Klopp admission as he reveals what could be the reason for downfall of Liverpool, according to him

Richard Keys has laid forth his opinion for why Liverpool has underperformed in recent encounters. The former Sky Sports employee has blamed Jurgen Klopp for Liverpool’s downfall.

Richard Keys has explained why Liverpool has dropped out of contention for two trophies in recent weeks, giving Manchester City an advantage in the Premier League championship chase.

Liverpool were eliminated from the Europa League by Atalanta on Thursday, despite Mohamed Salah‘s penalty earning a 1-0 victory in Bergamo on the night. However, the Reds suffered a 3-0 setback in the first leg, which was the cause of their exit from the competition.

Richard Keys’ surprising admission at Klopp

Liverpool’s manager, Jurgen Klopp, made an announcement in January that he would be leaving Anfield at the end of this season. He said that he was “running out of energy” and needed a break from the managerial job.

However, Keys claims that Klopp’s announcement of his departure in January contributed to Liverpool’s current drop in form. He took to his Twitter account and wrote:

“It’s such a shame that our clubs have done so badly this past week but congrats to Aston Villa. Sadly it’s beginning to look as though Klopp’s ill judged announcement has killed Liverpool not lifted them.”

There is no doubt that Klopp has been a wonderful asset for Liverpool

However, there are a few issues to address with this suggestion. Klopp had no choice but to announce his decision, as the media was about to make it public eventually. Moreover, if he hadn’t made it public in time, then the Reds would not have had enough time to search for a new manager.

Jurgen Klopp has been a phenomenal manager for the Reds since he joined them in 2015. He led the Reds to achieve every piece of silverware in his nine-year reign except the Europa Cup. Klopp is one of the best things that happened to Liverpool and blaming him for a rough season is quite unnecessary.

Liverpool have had a rough season, dealing with several injuries and trying to adapt to the constant changes across the squad. It is easy to put all the blame on one guy but there are a lot of circumstances that led to this outcome for the Reds.

However, the Reds currently sit in third place in the Premier League with six games remaining. It means that in order for Jurgen Klopp to win another trophy before leaving Anfield, his club must win all six remaining games while also hoping Manchester City slips up.
