Joe Gomez is the latest Liverpool star to pen a new contract and extend his stay at the club. The English defender has been excellent for us alongside Virgil van Dijk this season but is out with a lower leg fracture sustained in our win over Burnley.
The 21-year-old has had his issues with injuries picking injuring his ACL after Jurgen Klopp had joined, but that has not stopped him from becoming one of the best defenders in the Premier League.
The former Charlton Athletic man has come a long way and he expressed his delight at extending his stay at Anfield (h/t Liverpoolfc.com):
“Signing this new deal means the world to me.
“I’ve been at the club a few years now and have had the pleasure to play for Liverpool and experience what that means, so I am delighted to get the chance to extend my contract here.
“I love the club, I love playing and learning here, and I am happy for that to continue.”
The youngster further spoke about how the team has developed and how close we came to winning the Champions League last season.
The Reds are on their best start ever in a top-flight season, and Gomez highlighted that the team is headed in the right direction.
