Jurgen Klopp hints at copying Arsenal’s creativity ahead of festive games

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hinted that he might take a note out of Arsenal’s books when it comes to managing the starting XI in the festive period.

The Reds defeated Manchester United 3-1 to stay at the top of the Premier League but we are stretched when it comes to fit defenders.

Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold weren’t fit for the United clash, and Nathaniel Clyne got a chance to impress as the right-back.

Arsenal are facing a similar problem and had to play Granit Xhaka in their defence, although they lost the clash 3-2.

Klopp was interviewed by NBCSN (h/t Daily Star) and claimed we might be up to some tinkering at the back:

“We cannot rotate the defence too much because that’s the last man standing.

“But if Clyne or one of the centre-halves need a rest, we don’t have a solution anymore.

“We will maybe have to be creative like Arsenal.

“I saw the lineup they had and they had to be creative.”

The German was told by Lee Dixon that this move from Arsenal didn’t work, but Klopp believed the team has to take chances this time of the year.

Liverpool play Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday before facing Newcastle, Arsenal, Manchester City and Wolves again (FA Cup) in a span of 16 days.

Our team needs to be at their best to win all the ties but we have to be careful regarding the fitness of the players too.

The next month will be a testing one for the Reds, and hopefully, we come out on top.
