Liverpool have claimed that the sale of Rafa Camacho to Sporting Lisbon doesn’t improve their chances of landing Bruno Fernandes (h/t Mirror).
The Mirror adds that Liverpool have been linked with the Portuguese midfielder, and the 24-year-old is valued at £70million.
The report adds that Manchester United are also interested in the Portuguese international. Fernandes scored 20 league goals last season and provided 13 assists for his club.
He also broke into the national team and won the Nations League in the summer. The 24-year-old can play in several positions, but the report adds that Liverpool are not interested in the midfielder.
Fernandes could have been the player that provides more goals from the midfield, however, the report claims that Camacho’s sale has no bearing on the Sporting star’s future.
Camacho left the Reds in a deal worth £5m
(h/t Mirror), and some Liverpool fans had hoped that this was going to see the Portuguese international switch to the Reds. The report adds that Camacho was linked with a move to several clubs and refused to sign a new deal.
However, Camacho will now return to the club where he started his career, and hopefully, can make more starts in the coming seasons.
The Reds have been busy over the past two days as they confirmed the signature of Sepp van den Berg from PEC Zwolle.
